It’s no secret that mass timber is a superior construction material. In commercial construction, glulam projects create a variety of structural and decorative elements. From complex curves to straight beams, these exterior and interior designs made with glulam are always appealing.
Stunning Structures Made with Glue-Laminated Wood

From small-scale office buildings to medium-scale projects and large-scale commercial structures, anything is possible with glulam! Discover the various types of commercial construction projects Binkley has had the pleasure of bringing to life:
- Parmer Pond Glulam Pavilion
- De La Salle Church Glulam Double Arches
- Sienna Ranch Credit Union Lock Deck & Glulam
- Kingwood Middle School Cafeteria Glulam Trees
1) Parmer Pond Glulam Pavilion
In collaboration with R.M. Rodgers, our team played a pivotal role in bringing “The Pitch” project to life at Parmer Pond District in Northeast Austin. The glulam pavilion, featuring 3″ laminated “Lock-Deck” wood decking, serves as the centerpiece of this open-air food court and entertainment space.
The project creates a unique and authentic Austin experience, offering diverse food options and entertainment amenities. Local employees, sports enthusiasts, and the community can enjoy this communal gathering space. This pavilion contributes to the vibrant atmosphere of Parmer Austin’s 300-acre corporate campus.
2) De La Salle Church Glulam Double Arches
In another R.M. Rodgers partnership, Binkley’s team crafted a remarkable project at the La Salle Sisters of Cypress church, featuring stunning glulam double arches. The church aligns with the mission of De La Salle Educational Center in Cypress, TX, encapsulated by the principles of “Learn + Serve + Lead”.
We wanted to emphasize their commitment to education, community service, and leadership development for the youth. The incorporation of the elegant glulam double arches adds a touch of architectural excellence. The goal is to reflect the values of the educational center and foster a welcoming environment for its community.
3) Sienna Ranch Credit Union Lock Deck & Glulam
We collaborated with E.E. Reed to bring the Sienna Ranch Solution Center glulam project to fruition in Missouri City, Texas. The 2,833 SF retail center, now home to Wellby Financial and Bean Here Coffee, features a distinctive structure composed of Glulam beams. They’re securely bolted to structural steel members, supporting the Lock-Deck decking roofing assembly.
Seamlessly integrating these varied structural components, the project maintains the unique shape and slopes that define the architectural character of the Sienna Ranch Solution Center.
4) Kingwood Middle School Cafeteria Glulam Trees
In collaboration with R.M. Rodgers once again, we used glulam timber at Kingwood Middle School. With this project, we wanted to contribute to the school’s contemporary aesthetic. The cafeteria boasts eye-catching “Trees,” while glulam columns enhance the library and entrances.
This collaborative effort certainly highlights the versatility of glue-laminated wood. It also underscores the commitment to creating a visually appealing and sustainable educational space at Kingwood Middle School.
